Make text come alive around your home by using a sticky note, index card, or extra piece of paper to label a rock.
Tape the label near a rock and discuss the letters and their meaning with your child. Labeling helps children learn that letters come together to make words and creates a print rich environment in your home.
Pre-Reading Building Block
Sing the song “If You’re Happy and You Know It” with your child. Change the word “happy” to“brave” to connect with the mouse who learned to be brave in the story.

Opposites are two words with completely different meanings. In the book, The Lion Inside, the mouse is small and the lion is big. Small and big are opposites!
With your child, list other opposite word pairings. Act out the words to make the meanings come alive!
